Mission Statement of the Small Business Council:

The Small Business Council of Forward Janesville will act as the voice of small business and provide small businesses with resources and marketing opportunities to aid in their growth and success.

Nearly 80 percent of Forward Janesville’s membership consists of companies with 25 or less employees.  Providing services to this group and responding to its needs is a critical function of Forward Janesville’s Small Business Council.

In the past year, the Small Business Council greatly expanded, both in size and in the number of initiatives it undertook.  A key area in which the Council wanted to improve was in its communications with the small business members.  A full page in each edition of  The Report is devoted to the Small Business Council and its work.

The Small Business Council occasionally surveys Forward Janesville's small business members to get feedback on how it can best serve our members.  This feedback is extremely valuable, and helps give the group direction.

The Small Business Council’s slogan is “Your voice…your resource.”  More than just a tagline, it is what the group truly intends to be.  The SBC welcomes input on how the group can best serve the needs of Forward Janesville members.  If you have ideas or feedback to share, please call FJI or e-mail us.

SMALL BUSINESS COUNCIL GOALS

• Develop programs and resources designed to enhance employee recruitment and retention efforts for small businesses in the Janesville community.
• Develop programs designed to increase member-to-member purchasing.
• Facilitate a networking series for small businesses to educate owners about business-related issues and to build relationships between small business members.
• Provide free business planning to small business members through Retired Executives Business Advisors (REBA).
• Enhance business-to-business marketing and networking opportunities.
