FJI To Provide Input on City Comprehensive Plan

On Thursday, March 8, the City of Janesville’s Plan Commission met to receive a report on the now-underway effort to update the City’s comprehensive plan.  During the report, representatives of Vandewalle & Associates (the City’s hired consultants) reviewed the results of the City’s recent public opinion survey, presented exhaustive information on Janesville’s current demographics and land use patterns, and discussed upcoming ‘vision workshops.’  These vision workshops, which will give the public an opportunity to comment on every aspect of the comprehensive plan update, will take place on April 24 (Franklin Middle School), April 25 (Edison Middle School), and May 2 (Marshall Middle School).  We encourage all FJI members to participate in these workshops, as we believe it vital to make the business community’s voice heard during this process.

To that end, we have assembled an active, diverse focus group that has begun work on a comprehensive set of recommendations to present to Vandewalle & Associates and the Plan Commission.  Stay tuned for more information on the focus group’s recommendations, and please plan to attend at least one of the vision workshops.
