Westgate Group Has Big Plans For Janesville's West Side
The Westgate Business Corridor Group,
formerly known as Westside Development, began in March 2004 when group
originators Steve Scaccia and Dr. John Haye recognized the need to organize
business and property owners on the west side and discuss ways to better promote
and develop the area to harness the obvious potential. This
group has been forging ahead with plans and insights for the future of the west
side.
Westgate meets on the fourth Wednesday
of each month and discusses plans to rejuvenate the west side of Janesville and
make it more desirable to both potential new businesses and rooftops. The group
has recently been working with the South Side Business Group’s former
president, Jim Damrow, with the understanding that there is strength in growth
and the south and west sides working together collaboratively.
The group is currently working on a signage project and median
beautification project that will focus on the Five Points area.
The sign will welcome people to the west side and provide a gateway to
future potential.
The group recently elected officers:
Steve Scaccia of Freedom Plastics- President, Jim Damrow of Damrow Chiropractic-
Vice President, Jeff Knopes of J & W Transfer- Treasurer and Kathy Kessler
of Freedom Plastics- Secretary.
The next three meetings are scheduled
for April 25, May 23 and June 27. Westgate generally meets at Forward
Janesville and sometimes at an area business on the west side.
