FJI
Urges Members To Get
Involved In The City's Comprehensive Planning Process
The
City of Janesville has begun the process of updating its comprehensive plan.
As a part of this process, the city sent a public opinion survey to each
resident in the November 2006 edition of the Park Place News.
The results of this survey will chart the
city’s course on everything from land use to traffic abatement, and will
impact policy decisions made by our elected officials for decades.
Therefore, it is vital that the business community’s voice be heard
throughout the comprehensive planning process.
The
City’s Plan Commission kicked off the planning process with a public input
session on Thursday, December 14. The
entire process will be completed in 18 to 24 months.
According to the Janesville Gazette, “state
law allows the city to make platted recommendations up to three miles from
current city limits.” (Janesville Gazette, 12.12.06)
The planning process will result in three future growth and development
scenarios, one of which will receive approval from the City Council.
The next public input session will take place on March 8, 2007. We encourage all FJI members to attend this meeting, and will provide regular updates on the plan’s progress.
