Meet Your Forward Janesville Goodwill Ambassador

Dan Wilcox-Fund Development & Public Relations Coordinator

at Alzheimer's Support Center, Inc.

Ambassador Since: 2006

Community Involvement: I am a member of Art League, an usher at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, I volunteer at different locations for different non-profits throughout the year, and I am the President of the Wee Travelers Doll Club of Janesville.

Hobbies/Interests: I own a stained glass business besides working at the Alzheimer’s Support Center.  I love to spend time with my pets and enjoy going to dog shows and meeting other people’s four legged family as well.  Walking and sight-seeing is top on my list of fun things to do, as well as going to movies and listening to various pod-casts as well.

Family: My immediate family consists of my partner Rich Fletcher (who is currently the chairman of the Historic Commission – he gives some GREAT tours of the different historic districts of Janesville, watch for details of warm weather FREE tours coming soon!) We have as a Catahoula Leopard Dog named Spartacus, a Pomeranian named Davinci and three cats:  Minerva, Rupie and Salem Kitty.  My mom and dad (Richard and Marlene) own a farm on Sharon Road and also run Churchill Sand and Gravel. Most people know my mom as she works at the Home Again consignment store downtown.  The rest of the family consists of my three brothers and their families.  David and Sally Churchill and their kids Richard, Wanda and Marie, Jim and Glenda Churchill with their kids Josh, Aaron and William, and Charles and Kim Churchill with their boys Clayton Thomas and Connor, and my sister in law Charlene Churchill.

Favorite Food: Pizza and Sea Food Fettuccine are my favorites.

What do you enjoy about being a Goodwill Ambassador?   There are many things that I really cherish about being a Goodwill Ambassador. The main reason is the wonderful group of Ambassadors that I am lucky to share my time with.  A few years ago I was downsized from my job in Rockford, Ill.  I had always lived in Janesville, but really only used it as a resting spot when I wasn’t working.  After I was able to work in Janesville again, being an Ambassador and working with Forward Janesville had really helped me to “re-connect” with my own home town.  Each ribbon cutting and after 5 event offers another opportunity to meet new friends and discover some old friends I had lost contact with.  Of course, another fun thing about being an ambassador is the caroling to the members during the holiday season.
