FJI Opposes "Healthy Wisconsin Plan" Forward Janesville announced its opposition to the State Senate’s “Healthy Wisconsin” proposal on July 23.  Healthy Wisconsin, a universal health care plan that would be funded by a payroll tax on workers and their employers, is included in the Senate’s biennial budget proposal.  After several weeks spent gathering input from its members and closely studying the proposal, FJI has concluded that the plan could cause serious harm to businesses across the state.  MORE

State Senate, Assembly Pass Widely Differing Budget Proposals  Finding common ground between the Wisconsin State Senate and Assembly's vastly divergent 2007-09 state budget proposals will be extremely difficult, and both sides acknowledge that the final negotiations could stretch well into the fall.   MORE

U.S. House Debates Revision In Fuel Economy Standards
Janesville Congressman Paul Ryan has joined Representatives Lee Terry (R-NE) and Baron Hill (D-IN) in introducing H.R. 2927, a compromise bill that sets a challenging but achievable fuel economy standard for automakers of between 32 mpg and 35 miles per gallon by model year 2022.  The auto industry supports H.R. 2927, and is urging members of Congress to sign on as cosponsors.  MORE

Business and Marketing Expo: Book Your Booth Early!  Forward Janesville's 2007 Business and Marketing Expo is scheduled for Thursday, October 11. An 11:30 am luncheon will kick off the Forward Janesville annual event at the Pontiac Convention Center. The afternoon will then continue at 1:30 pm at the Holiday Inn Express featuring more than 80 local businesses as exhibitors. The event culminates in the year's largest Business After 5 from 5 to 7 pm, sponsored by Riverfront, Inc.  MAKE RESERVATIONS
