The Leadership Development Academy is
seeking applicants with a demonstrated commitment and involvement in our
community for its nine-month community leadership program. Participants in the
program will experience innovative, individualized and diverse learning
opportunities that will allow them to experience contemporary theory grounded in
current leadership best practices. Area
businesses, public and private agencies, civic and other organizations are
encouraged to identify and support candidates with leadership potential for this
program.
The program begins with an orientation
and two-day retreat in September and continues through May. Participants will
attend a full day seminar and participate in one group learning activity per
month from October through May. A variety of learning strategies are used in these sessions
to explore and develop the participants’ leadership skills.
The learning strategies will include mock sessions, site visits, case
studies, experts, role-playing, multi-media presentations, and dialogues that
include members of the LDA Board, community leaders as well as high school and
college youth. The program will conclude with a wrap-up leadership session
and a graduation luncheon.
