Talks Issues At First Facing Forward Event
Forward
Janesville is pleased to announce that the inaugural Facing Forward, which was
held on June 7 at the Pontiac Convention Center, was a big hit!
Almost 60 people attended this event, which was designed to bring FJI members
face to face with state decision makers and opinion leaders.
Our featured speaker was Senate Majority Leader Judy Robson of Beloit,
who discussed a number of issues important to the Janesville area business
community, including the state budget, taxes, transportation infrastructure,
health care and education. Special
thanks to those who made this event possible: Murphy Desmond,
S.C., our event partner, and the Pontiac Convention Center and Two
Men and a Truck, our event sponsors.
FJI is
planning another Facing Forward
for the fall, and while the topic has not been set in stone, we will likely
offer a seminar on disaster planning and preparedness for businesses.
In 1918, the world experienced
one of the deadliest flu pandemics ever known.
Influenza killed over half a million people in the United States and as
many as 40 million people worldwide. Could
it happen again? The general
consensus among experts is that another pandemic will strike again—sooner,
rather than later. Are we—as a
community, state, or nation—prepared? Facing
Forward
will focus on the possible ramifications of a catastrophic flu pandemic and how
you and your business can be ready. Stay
tuned for an announcement soon!
