2022 was a record-breaking year for tourism spending in communities across Wisconsin, and the trend in Janesville was no different. Visitors spent a record-breaking $159 million in Janesville during 2022, generating a total economic impact of $240 million. That total sustained 1,136 jobs (a 3.9% increase vs. 2021) and generated $13.7 million in state and local tax revenues (a 7% increase vs. 2021). The most recent 2023 hotel room tax revenues have climbed to their highest levels ever, signaling a strong economy with a healthy tourism sector that is able to draw visitors from across the region and country. 

As the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center comes online, the tourism sector will only grow, and industries like Retail Trade, Accommodation & Food Services, and the Arts, which collectively account for approximately 20% of the Rock County economy, will benefit.
