The Janesville Gazette recently published our latest Forward Thinking column, focused on the momentum building across Janesville and the work still ahead to ensure long-term community success.
The column builds off a recent feature from The Gazette about George Cullen, our Board President, and highlights three areas that continue to shape Forward Janesville’s focus: education, housing and business growth.

Through efforts like Keep Kids Learning and the work of our Education Council, Forward Janesville continues working to strengthen connections between education and workforce development. At the same time, housing remains a critical issue as Janesville works to provide options for residents across income levels and stages of life. The column also highlights our support for zoning code updates, housing development conversations, and the upcoming CivicCon event focused on affordability and housing solutions.
Beyond housing and education, the piece reflects on the importance of supporting existing businesses while continuing to attract new investment and higher-paying jobs. From growth on the city’s south side to revitalization along key commercial corridors, the column points to visible examples of progress happening throughout the community.
Importantly, the piece recognizes that Janesville’s momentum did not happen overnight. Following the closure of the GM plant, the community faced significant economic challenges. Today, new investments, business expansion and community partnerships are helping position Janesville for continued growth and opportunity.
Forward Thinking is Forward Janesville’s monthly newspaper column focused on the initiatives, partnerships, and ideas shaping our local business climate and community future.
