Forward Janesville recently joined Sauk Valley Bank employees, customers and community leaders to celebrate the opening of the bank’s new full-service Janesville branch with a Champions Club Ribbon Cutting.

The celebration marked an important milestone for Sauk Valley Bank — and the continuation of a story years in the making.

When Sauk Valley Bank first came to Janesville, its local presence was modest. The bank began building relationships, serving customers and growing its team one day at a time. That growth eventually led to a larger local presence and, now, a significant investment in a brand-new facility designed to serve customers and the community for years to come.

For Branch Manager Sarah Schwarz, the celebration represented more than the opening of a new building.

“Ribbon cuttings are more than a photo opportunity,” Schwarz told those gathered for the event. “They’re visible signs of confidence in our community, a celebration of new beginnings and a reminder that when businesses, leaders and neighbors come together, we create momentum and opportunity for everyone.”

Sauk Valley Bank President and CEO Dirk Meminger reflected on the years of planning that went into the project and emphasized that, while the new facility is impressive, the people inside it will ultimately define its impact.

Meminger praised Schwarz and the Janesville team and spoke about Sauk Valley Bank’s commitment not only to doing business in the community, but also to supporting the broader business community and Janesville as a whole.

Brad Ray, Senior Vice President and incoming President and CEO in 2027, also thanked the Sauk Valley Bank Board and team for their vision in bringing the project to life, while expressing appreciation to the Janesville community for welcoming the bank and supporting its continued growth.

Forward Janesville President and CEO Shar Hermanson connected Sauk Valley Bank’s journey to the larger story unfolding throughout the community.

She recalled the bank arriving in Janesville with a small team, a specialty in agricultural banking and a vision for what could be built here. Through years of serving customers and growing relationships, that vision continued to expand.

“You have a dream and work hard at that dream every single day,” Hermanson said, noting that Sauk Valley Bank’s decision to make another major investment in Janesville reflects confidence in the community’s direction.

“Janesville is growing and on the right track and moving forward,” she said. “This represents the story of Janesville.”

The new branch represents both a new chapter for Sauk Valley Bank and another example of a Forward Janesville member investing in its people, its customers and the future of the community.
