The May 16 edition of The Janesville Gazette featured our most recent Forward Thinking column. Forward Thinking is a series of columns that help the community learn more about our member businesses and Forward Janesville initiatives.

This month, we dove deeper on Housing. Forward Janesville is committed to finding solutions to local housing matters. Our Board of Directors made housing a Strategic Initiative in 2024, and it is a Policy Priority Area of our Government Relations Council in 2025.

The challenge is real, but the tools to meet it are within reach. We must focus on solutions or Janesville will see population decline, which is a disincentive for existing firms to expand or new firms to locate in Rock County. With strong partnerships between the public and private sectors, thoughtful zoning reform, and a community-wide commitment to action, Janesville can build a future where everyone has a place to call home.
